Frank A. Wergin, 69, Chicago, IL, formerly of Casco, passed away on Thursday morning, April 28th at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. Frank was born on October 18, 1941 in Manitowoc, WI to Louise Wergin and the late John Wergin.
Frank earned his B.S. degree from University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. He was a former District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America and a long time travel consultant in Chicago, IL. Frank was a world traveler and history buff whose extensive travels included numerous trips to Africa, Australia, South America and Asia.
Frank also enjoyed woodworking, calligraphy, fly fishing and his collection of lead soldiers.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cheryl H. Wergin (nee Maedke); his mother, Louise Wergin, Casco; brothers, Jim (Marge) Wergin, Green Bay, Mike (Amy) Wergin, Manitowoc; his mother-in-law, LaVerne Maedke, Algoma; sisters-in-law, Sally (Don) Wall, Chicago, Kim Maedke (Walter Weigel), Shorewood, IL; many nieces and nephews also survive Uncle Frank "Ahbee" and he will also be sadly missed by his feline companions, Teddy and Winston.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, John Wergin and his father-in-law, Atlee Maedke.
A visitation and Funeral Mass are being held in Evergreen Park, IL on Sunday and Monday at Christ the King Church, Chicago. A second visitation will be held at Wiesner-Massart Funeral Home, Casco on Tuesday, May 3rd from 4 to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, 10:30am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Casco with Fr. Jim Massart officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma.
